Another Interview with Bryan Dattilo and a current picture

From AfterElton.com:  Lucas is returning to Salem any day now, just as Will inches closer to coming out of the closet. And as you would expect, Datillo will play a central role in Will’s coming out drama.

And the following is taken from via Daytime Royalty, via AfterElton.com:

Datillo, speaking to Daytime Royalty said he is glad with how the show wrote Lucas in regards to his son.

“The writers did a great job in playing it very honestly; it’s supportive and loving. I just didn’t want to be the bad guy in that scenario, to be the bigot. But Will denies things, and Lucas has to do some investigating to see what’s really going on since Sami doesn’t even know; she just knows that he’s going through some stuff, and Marlena wouldn’t say anything and wouldn’t tell her why." Datillo explains. “So Lucas goes in being inquisitive about it, but once he sees that that’s the dynamic, he’s really supportive. They’re friends as well as father and son. He lets Will know that he’s a little concerned about how other people will treat Will because of it, but he wants Will to know that he’s not going to treat him any differently. He loves him. I think it’s a great way to play it.”

I've been mostly worried about Sami's reaction, if she will be like Lily on ATWT when Luke first came out.

Before I read this whole article I had already thought that Lucas would be there for his son and on his side. Can't wait for their scenes.

I know I say this every time, but I'm super excited for his return. I was absolutely a Lucas/Sami shipper, and so was my grandmother - the woman I watched Days with off and on for over 20 years - and I'm super excited for his return, and hope for a reunion with Sami! :D :D :D Yay!

I'm so glad the writers are going to play this true to character. I always saw Lucas as supportive of his son, he has always loved Will. He loved his son so much that he made amends with Sami after they did some horrible ish to each other.

I look forward to his return, and I hope they use him a fair amount. I'm beyond tired of certain other characters usurping the show and being in nearly every single storyline on it.

Tbh, I can see Sami was being overly supportive to the point where Will is going to think she's against his sexuality.

I'm thrilled that Lucas is gonna be good with it, though!
