I think Will’s starting to piece it together now, but before last week, I dunno if he’s ever consciously known it. But I could very well be wrong – just going on what they’ve shown us.
His anger is definitely not going to abate any time soon!

I don't need longing or lustful looks either, and if the writers aren't including them to avoid cliches, then I applaud them. But I would like more than (imo) too-vague statements. Like, maybe, a confused look at a guy, or at Sonny and Tyler interacting. Maybe just more scenes of him bonding with Sonny and/or Chad, or even Will trying to take out another girl and just not feeling it. Something to get us from "I'm just not that into Gabi" to OMG BOYS.

I am so right there with you! Angry!Hurt! Will has been great fun and -- as I am not a Sami fan -- I kinda love how much he's calling her on her crap :D

Maybe not directed in an interested way towards Sonny or Tyler or any person in particular, but many confused/uncomfortable/'hits too close too home' expressions have come over his face since even before Sonny showed up. But, yeah, they've been subtle things, and nothing huge, glaring, or overt. Still, I've definitely seen them.
I think they're being really slow building with this entire thing, and we'll have more overt and explicit soon enough. :)

It hasn't really been until today's episode that I've seen anything from him that *might* suggest he has any awareness. Have you noticed otherwise?

And then the replies he had for Sonny today (and yesterday) seemed to me to imply that he has some measure of awareness, and that he's just not willing to put words on that awareness yet. Same with his conversations with Marlena.
I think he's aware but not accepting, and maybe still somewhat hopeful that it might not be true and/or could change for him.

I don't think the writers have given us anything. Not just longing/lustful looks (which I admit would be a bit cliche), but also no sense of confusion toward any guy, or total lack of attraction toward any other girl.
OTOH, if Will does consciously know and is hiding it SO HARD even in his private moments (so that even the audience doesn't get to see), that would be an interesting choice. And if the writers made such a choice to avoid stereotypes, or the notion that homosexuality can be caused, or prevented, or even predicted, then I applaud them.
Either way I'M DYING TO KNOW OKAY :D

Date: 2012-01-05 12:32 am (UTC)Well, if we take this to heterosexuality, most of us who are het know that we're het before we ever experience a real life crush, etc, and most gay kids report the same.
So, it could be that he's noticed since childhood that other guys got into the chicks, and he thought he'd grow into it, but he never did. And that he has, since childhood, just found men compelling in a way that he didn't find women compelling.
So, like you say, if they are actually writing it in a way that makes it clear that a person is gay like a person is heterosexual, i.e. they just are whether those feelings have a specific focus or not, then that's kinda awesome and unique in storytelling.

Looking back I think they could have had a bit more...something leading up to this, but I’m just glad we’re getting there. It’s very true that it doesn’t have to be directed at one person, and that is refreshing.

I remember Chandler even said in an interview he and Freddie played up some subtle flirting at first, then stopped because they didn't know if the writers would go that way and it'd be weird to have them flirting if they were gonna just stay friends.

Date: 2012-01-05 02:46 am (UTC)He's said it to Marlena twice, once in the Town Square decorating for Halloween, and right before the vow renewal ceremony. He went into a little bit more depth with her prior to the ceremony.
As for feelings it's different for everyone. I never felt an attraction to women, and I didn't really discover feelings for the same sex until late in high school. Acceptance of those feelings is a completely different set of circumstances. But, hindsight, as always is 20/20 and my feelings, once I realized what they were, went back long before high school.
He can have them for anyone, but it's my hope they're for Sonny. :P

That would be a very realistic portrayal, because most of us don't come bursting out of the closet with glitter the moment we accept ourselves lol. It was a good year before I was really ready to confront my feelings, and accept myself. Hopefully, Days doesn't take it THAT slow.

I don’t know. He doesn’t need to be drooling over another guy, but when he said to Marlena he’d been having some feelings for a while, I was like, You have?? I’m not sure he even meant gay feelings. Perhaps he did (or maybe it’s just feelings of not liking Gabi?). Either way he’s definitely repressing a lot, that’s for sure.
