Jack has always done that sort of thing. No matter what goes wrong between them, it's his fault, not matter how NOT his fault it might have been.

Hell, in one of the 20+ year old clips, Jennifer said something about how she'd been so horrible to Emilio, she was engaged to him but she didn't really love him and she was chasing after Jack the whole time, and Jack basically told her, "don't blame yourself, I bring out the worst in people."
