So, as mentioned in my post from earlier today, the week of Thanksgiving, Will is going to walk in on Sami sleeping with E.J. If you want to read all about it, you can read it here:

I mainly just want to talk about this part:


Like Mother, Like Son
After Sami discovered Marlena and John having sex in a Titan conference room in 1993, the incident was so traumatic that she developed an eating disorder. Later Sami began acting out and wreaked havoc in the lives of everyone around her. What’s ahead for Will, now that he has caught his mom and EJ? “Will is going to become Sami at that age,” teases Marlene McPherson. "We’re going to see a whole different Will. We watched how Sami changed after she saw John and Marlena. Now, Will is Sami. There are things ahead that the audience won’t even see coming.” One thing is certain: Will is coming out and will reveal that he is gay. McPherson says, “We’ve been watching the scenes that are taping, and I am telling you, get ready! When you see the stuff that is going to happen, it’s unbelievable!”


Now, when I first thought of Will going all "bad boy", I didn't like the idea, but the more I think of it, the more I see there could be a lot of potential. First, I see HUGE shades of Luke Snyder, having problems with his parents' never ending revolving door of significant others, drinking and acting out. Shortly after Luke came out and Lily started insisting this was just another way of acting out, Bob told her that he didn't think saying he was gay was another form of acting out; it was his solution. In other words, one of the big reasons he'd been acting out was because he'd been fighting against this huge thing inside of him, denying who he really was, and coming out was the answer he'd been looking for. He mainly stopped acting out after that, and it was a long time before he started hitting the bottle again.

Anyway, if they go down a similar path with Will, I think I could be quite happy with the story. I don't want him to become a "bad boy" the way his mother went all "bad girl" back after she walked in on her mother with John, but a little bit of acting out for a few months won't necessarily be a bad thing!

Well, I’m certainly intrigued! I bet Sami will interpret Will coming-out as a reaction against her. Finally, we’re getting to the drama! :D

Oh, I can definitely see Sami going the full Lily Snyder route here, and then some. And that totally works for me... it seems much more consistently in character for Sami to act that way then it ever did for Lily, IMO.

OK, I'm very, very annoyed that Sami and EJ sleep together. I want EJ with Nicole, I like Sami with Rafe (or LUCAS, come onnn!), so of course DAYS is screwing everything up. They're going to have to foreshadow this crap pretty quickly, because right now, this is completely out of left field.

ANYWAY...I cannot picture Will acting out like Sami. I mean, she was a major villain on the show. I hope they don't take that route with Will, because that would be ridiculous. A Luke-esque story arch, yes. I could see that. Here's hoping.

The only way I'd want E.J. with Nicole would be if he did about a year of groveling and kissing her feet first. Don't get me wrong, the chemistry between them is undeniable, but he's been such a shit to her for such a long time, and even this week after they slept together, the closest he's come to saying he loves her is to basically say that he loves how much she loves him, loves that she understand him, loves that she supports him. I'd love for them to turn things around and convince me that E.J. actually has seen the light and does love Nicole, but until/unless that happens, I want Nicole to turn her back on him and mean it.

As for Sami/Rafe... I think Rafe is a really great guy, but Sami was always more interesting to me as a bad girl than as a good girl, so if this storyline can send her back to her bad girl roots, I'd be more than happy to see her and Rafe break up and Rafe find someone else.

I could still be on board for Sami/Lucas (if only they would bring Lucas back), because when they were kids they were always scheming together, so I can see Lucas accepting bad girl Sami without needing to change her. Rafe, I'm not as sure about. I don't know if he'd ever really be able to accept that side of Sami.

I confess, I only started watching DAYS again at the end of this spring, so I missed EJ and Nicole's story. Yeah, if EJ DID prove he could treat her right, I'd like them together, but it looks like he's just about to stomp all over her heart again.

It looks like Rafe and Carrie are going to have a thing. Carrie cheated with Mike when they were working together, and now it's happening again. SURPRISE SURPRISE. (I loved her with Mike, they were why I watched DAYS obsessively back then, BAH.)

I'm hoping it's the start of one of those soapy stories where a character has to be torn down to rock bottom before the writers can start building him up again, because I do think the chemistry between E.J. & Nicole is through the roof, but I like Nicole too much to want to see her in a relationship where it's all about what he needs and not at all about what she needs, no matter how steamy the chemistry is.

Ugh, really? Sami and EJ? Last time I saw her in scenes they had her naked on top of her ex. MAKE UP YOUR MIND, SHOW.

See, I think the spoiler has a lot of potential, because Sami, the Sami I always found most interesting, was always a bad girl character. She was voted best villainess several times, and I found her a lot more fun to watch as the bad girl than I've found the "good girl" Sami we've been getting since I started watching again last spring. So, if this is the start of the return to the good old bad girl Sami, then I am all for it!

It's not Sami being a bad girl that bothers me per se, just the soap tradition of throwing any pairing together at any time.

I don't really agree that this is an example of this. Sami and E.J. have a history... a totally fucked up and twisted history, but still a history. They have children together, one of whom they now think is dead, and they end up grieving in each others arms. I might actually have some sympathy for the both of them, if it wasn't for the fact that it's going to turn out that Johnny was never in danger, he was just scared and was hiding somewhere in the pub!

Hahah sounds awesome!

I would love Will to exhibit some 'bad boy' behavior, but I don't think they'll take it too far. I'm excited!

(I have to admit though, I kinda would love for a soap opera to feature a gay villain(ess). Thomas in Downton Abbey was a gay man who was an absolutely horrible, nasty piece of work, but the actor did such a great job with the role.)

I'd like to see that, too, but not when there are so few gay characters on the canvas. Which just means the show has to start featuring more than just one or two gay characters... make it seven or eight, and I'd be delighted if one of them was a villain!

Interesting analysis. Yeah, Will "acting out" gives him a storyline at least.
