SPOILERS: In-depth Recap/Transcript for March 8

EDIT: boo preemption :( This will now air on Thursday, not today.

Marlena is leaving a message for John

Marlena: Hi, sweetie, it me. Um, look, I’m getting a little worried. I’d like you to just call. Call me, okay? Thanks. Bye.

Marlena’s cell rings

Marlena: Oh, you want a rematch, huh?  [chuckles] All righty, you’re on. “Knock…”

Door knocks.

Marlena: “Knock.” “Knock.” That can’t be worth much.

Marlena opens the door. Will is standing there with a bag.

Marlena: Oh, it’s you! Hi.

Will: Hi.

Marlena: Oh! Oh! Oh! “Knock.”

Marlena laughs and knocks on the door.

Will: Who where you expecting?

Marlena: No one. I’m just not always very comfortable unless John’s home

Will: Okay. So… Aren’t you going to ask what’s in the bag?

Marlena: Nah. Yes. Supper?

Will: No, but depending on your answer, we could order in.

Marlena: Okay. My answer to what?

Will: Since you’re all by your lonesome and John isn’t here, I thought maybe we could ditch the E-game…

Will pulls out a Scrabble box.

Will: And duel the old fashioned way- me you, old school

Marlena: No… you, me- yes, you are so on.

Will: Okay.

Marlena: Should I call for Chinese?

*

Marlena and Will are on the couch, eating and playing scrabble.

Will: Do you recognize this one? It’s, the uh, very same board that you taught me to spell with when I was younger. Actually, you did a lot of what my mom probably should have done.

Marlena: Your mom was incredibly busy.

Will: Oh I know. And she sucks at spelling anyways.

Marlena laughs and chokes on her drink.

Marlena: Don’t do that when I’m-

Will: [laughs] Sorry.

Marlena: You know what? We never finished the conversation we were having when your mother walked in.

Will: Check, please.

Will gets up.

Marlena: Oh, that’s really funny.

Will: mm-hmm.

Marlena: You are so cute, you goofball. You did the hardest part. You told me that you were drawn to somebody else.

Will: Yeah, I… kissed him.

Marlena: And?

Will: “And”? Isn’t that enough?

Will sits in a chair, spins away from Marlena and looks at the scrabble box. He sighs.

*

Marlena: Well, I can understand that you wouldn’t want to have the conversation with your grandmother.

Will spins back around to Marlena

Will: That is not it. You know, it’s just that it’s hard for me to put it into words.

Marlena: Well, I think you like that young man. And I think there was something appealing about him for you.

Will: Well… um, his name was Neil and he was nice. I mean he was easy to talk to, but I didn’t plan on doing what I did. It just kind of happened.

Marlena: That once? Did you see him again?

Will: No.

Marlena: It’s okay if you had, you know.

Will gets out of the chair. Marlena stands up too.

Marlena: Look, I’m just guessing here. Tell me if I’m way off base. But I think you’re feeling guilty, like you did something wrong.

Will: I did do something wrong. And I can’t change it. I mean it’s over. But I can make sure it never happens again.

Marlena: Oh, well, that’s one way to play it, yeah.

Will: Meaning that…

Marlena: I think you’re letting your head make a decision for your heart.

Will: You know, no offence, but for a very smart therapist, you’re starting to sound a lot like my fortune cookie.

Marlena: [laughs] All right, fine! What I mean to say is, don’t over-analyze what is already a natural impulse- something that happened in the moment.

Will: But I was drunk.

Marlena: Yeah, I know. And that kiss meant something to you. So the sooner you can figure out what that is, the sooner you’ll be able to get comfortable with yourself.

Will: But what if I can’t? You know, what then?

*

Will: You know, I always figured that I’d, um, get married and… like have kids and be normal. [chuckles]

Marlena: You are normal.  You are perfectly, beautifully, deliciously normal. All you’ve got to do is figure out who it is that you are and fall in love with that person.

Will: Wow, that sounds so easy.

Marlena: Yeah I know. [laughs] Of course it’s not. But if anybody can do it, my darling boy, that would be you.

Marlena’s cell phone goes off.

Marlena: Oh, wait, wait. Sorry, that might be John. Hello?

Roman: Yeah, it’s me, Roman.

Marlena: Oh, hi Roman, uh, have you heard from John? I’ve been trying to reach him.

Roman: This is about Bo. He was attacked. He’s in a coma.

*

Roman: What did the tests show?

Daniel: Well, we won’t get most of the results back until tomorrow .But I really think you should go home and get some rest. Your brother wasn’t the only one who was attacked.

Marlena and Will arrive at Bo’s hospital room.

Marlena: Roman, you were hurt too?

Roman: No, no, no, I’m fine. I just got a little banged up bit- nothing major.

Daniel: Excuse me.

Daniel leaves temporarily.

Will: What happened?

Roman: Well, we tried to surprise some bad guys. They beat us to it. I’ve been trying to reach Hope all evening.

Marlena: She doesn’t know about this?

Roman: Not yet, no. but Kayla’s still trying to get through.

Marlena: Roman, I haven’t been able to reach John either.

*
Marlena is on her cell phone.

Marlena: John, it’s important, I need you to call me the minute you get the message. Thank you, bye. What if something’s happened to him?

Roman: Doc, look I’m sure it’s just lousy phone service. It’s a long way away.

Marlena: Hope would be here in a second if she knew what was happening. [turns to Daniel] Oh, uh... Outside, please.

Daniel, Marlena, and Will leave.

*
And that’s a wrap for Will today!
